Conditions for marriage in Islam
Date 16 February 2026 & Clock 19:20

I am about to marry a girl. I’m almost a religious person and religion takes priority in my life. However, she says she is not very religious and she has taken her beliefs from other members of the family especially her brothers’ wives. She says she cannot observe fast because she is a teacher and fasting causes her to feel weak. She also says she does not offer her prayers regularly and does not care about it very much. Nevertheless, she says she observes moral rules and promises to observe hijab to the extent that satisfies me.
Now I don’t know what to do. It should be added that my parents agree with the conditions put by her family.

Two things are important in marriage: good behavior and religiosity. If a girl has good behavior and observes hijab, offers her prayers and observes her fasts, she is good for marriage.
If the girl does not care about her prayers and fasts and her excuse for not observing fast is feeling weak or her job not religiously acceptable excuses, she is not good for marriage. Of course, it is not forbidden to marry her but you’d better marry someone who is committed to her prayers and fasts.
Having said that, if in future you can encourage her to offer her prayers and observe her fasts and she belongs to a religious family and is good in terms of behavior and hijab, you can marry her.

Food containing alcohol

Is consuming white alcohol, which is advised by physicians for heart problems, permissible?

If it is not intoxicant, there is no problem in it but if it is intoxicant, it is forbidden.
According to narrations God did not put healing in forbidden things and it is unlikely that physicians advise patients to consume alcohol.
At any rate, if a religiously committed doctor deems it necessary that a patient should consume alcohol and it is the only way to treat the disease, there is no problem in it to the necessary extent.

Having fish and meat in non-Islamic restaurants
Date 16 February 2026 & Clock 19:20

In some restaurants, for example McDonald’s, where fish is served to customers, it is not known whether the fish is of the type that has scales. In such a case, is there any problem in eating the fish or not?

As for fish, one has to make sure the fish is of the type that has scales. But if the restaurant is in a Muslim country and run by a Muslim, there is no need to investigate. Of course, if you are sure the fish is not of the type that has scales, eating it is not permissible.
